After just a few days of catching up on sleep, refueling, provisioning, misc repair jobs, etc., Raven and crew set sail for Rangiroa some 600 miles away. Rangiroa is located in an archipelago of atolls called the Tuamotus, very different from the steep rugged scenery of the Marquesas.

Captain’s Log

Mar 7 – we left Nuku Hiva at 10.30am for the 565nm to Rangiroa……….at 1200 we have 551nm to go and we are at 09.08s 140.21w…….we are sailing with full main and headsail in 20 -22knts easterly. So yes we got diesel yesterday………Island time…….hahahhaa, good to be back.

Mar 8 – Nice sailing…….20 plus knots easterly…… we are at 11.21s 143.04w and sailed 210nm with 341 to go to Rangiroa…….
interesting enough, its hotter here than the equator and the warmest we have been. Also the water temp is hottest here at 83f……over the equator it was only……76f…….this is due to the cold current from the Galapagos.

Mar 9 – at 13.23s and 145.39w , 148nm to go………will arrive at first light off Rangiroa. Wind now at 8knts and motor sailing.

Mar 10 – we are in now at Rangiroa…………..big waves in the pass as before !!!
