Dolphin Excursion

Slideshow Hawaii-2 2007

With all our visitors settled in, we sailed up to Makua and anchored overnight – water much calmer than our last trip, although we had to set the flopper stopper as it really
got rolly after sunset.  We have taken Drew swimming, snorkeling,
kayaking, and on a commercial expedition to snorkel with dolphins and
turtles out of Waianae Harbor.  We also got back into our Ko’Olina
berth without incident and on our first try!

We spent yesterday afternoon in Waikiki – Mike and I collected our WYC
membership card and hung out in the yacht club while the younger set
went shopping.  Dinner at Keo’s – just as tasty as last time.

Michelle leaves tonight but Eric and Drew will be here until Saturday.
Today’s project is to batten down Raven as Hurricane Flossie is
expected to hit the Big Island this afternoon and we’re not sure how
much spin-off we will get – definitely expecting some wind.  The crew
on Alsumar on our starboard side are making preparations as well, and
suggested we position our boats in the slips so that hopefully the
masts don’t tangle if the wind and surf really come up.  Theoretically
we should only get gusts around 35 knots, but if the hurricane shifts
in course that could change.  Mike is making a run right now to West
Marine to pick up some extra line and bumpers.

Will let you know if we survive the storm – no news is bad news!
