  1. Carol,
You know Donna and I have had a bump in our road, but everything with me has been stable, up to and including the 1.5-year mark early last month. I’m still only at about 75% with getting around (think Walter Brennan on the Real McCoy’s, with a _bad_ limp, but I am _so_ ready to get the boat (incidentally, new name is Caneel) back into the water. We hope to take some “lessons” with Corey this coming spring, and then run up to Maine, and possibly points in Canada farther north. Cooler weather, abundant cold-water lobsters, and a fantastic boat underneath us – what more could we want? 😁
    Best regards!

  2. Hi Jerry,

Good to hear from you! I’m glad to hear things are on the upswing. What a case of bad timing buying the boat, although from what I hear the boat market has really taken off lately. Corey is great and that sounds like a good plan for the spring. We envy you!

  3. Hi, Carol! It’s been right at 5 years 5 months since my surgery, and I’m starting to feel better about being done with the sarcoma; the last, 5-year (every-half-year now) recurrence checkup was still negative. I’m still pretty gimpy, but I hope to improve on that with more PT. And a large part of that is understanding now, as I hadn’t previously, how my hip socket was put back together after the surgery.

  4. I just saw this. I’m glad you’ve more or less recovered. Do you still have the boat or did you sell it? Mike’s Parkinson’s Disease has really taken hold. We chose the right time to give up cruising. I miss it but I don’t think he can manage boat life anymore these days. He’s also being treated for a bone marrow leukemia so basically these days we stay close to home and go to lots of doctor appointments. I’m sure you know the routine. Best of luck with the PT and building up your strength. I hope you still get out on the water (maybe not this week, however!)

  5. Carol,
Somehow I missed your last post about Mike’s issues. So sorry, and please tell Mike we’re rooting for him. Is he still working? And yes, I understand “the routine”, for sure, and some weeks it seems the only thing we do is go see doctors! Donna is probably due for some knee replacements, but she’s gotten an unusually lengthy amount of relief out of her last set of gel injections, fortunately. It almost seems as if she’s been cured, which is unlikely, of course. Ironically, I had essentially no arthritis before my surgery. But I think leaning on a walker has developed some in my hamds and shoulders. How are _you_ getting along, Carol?
